2027 NBA Mock Draft (Oct. 26): Tyran Stokes Goes First as Seven Teams Start 0-3

Our first 2027 NBA mock draft of the season. Tyran Stokes goes No. 1, Stefan Joksimovic jumps to No. 2, and seven winless teams split the top of the lottery.

It's way too early for a mock draft. We're doing one anyway, because the 2027 class is the reason a lot of fan bases are already checking the standings.

Two caveats up front, and they matter. First, the draft order below is estimated from current standings, with ties broken by an approximation based on point differential. Second, every slot shows the original team, so traded picks aren't reflected. The lottery odds for each slot are the official ones, but which team lands in each slot is our estimate, and the mock uses the pre-lottery order. Each pick is simply the best player available on our RR board. You can follow it as it changes on the live 2027 NBA mock draft.

Seven teams, zero wins

The top of the order is a pileup. Miami, Sacramento, Brooklyn, Golden State, Milwaukee, New York and New Orleans are all 0-3. That's seven teams sharing the seven worst records after a week, which tells you how little the order means right now. A single win would scramble it.

Here's how the official odds fall across those slots today:

Pick Team Record No. 1 odds Top-4 odds Expected pick
1 Miami Heat 0-3 14% 52.1% 3.66
2 Sacramento Kings 0-3 14% 52.1% 3.86
3 Brooklyn Nets 0-3 14% 52.1% 4.06
4 Golden State Warriors 0-3 12.5% 48.1% 4.44
5 Milwaukee Bucks 0-3 10.5% 42.1% 4.96
6 New York Knicks 0-3 9% 37.2% 5.53
7 New Orleans Pelicans 0-3 7.5% 32% 6.22

Even the "best" slot gives only a 14% shot at No. 1, and the expected pick for the top seed is 3.66. The lottery is random, and nobody owns the top pick in October.

The top five

1. Miami: Tyran Stokes, SF, Kansas. Stokes is No. 1 on both our board and the consensus board, with an RR Score of 82.4. He's a freshman who'll be 19.7 on draft day. There's no debate at the top yet.

2. Sacramento: Stefan Joksimovic, G, Baskonia. This is where our board breaks from the crowd. Joksimovic is fourth on the consensus board, but his 81.0 RR Score ranks second on ours. Age is a big part of why. At 18.6 on draft day, he's the youngest player in our top five. He's playing internationally and is age-eligible, but he'll have to declare.

3. Brooklyn: Caleb Holt, SG, Arizona. Holt is third on both boards (80.8). It's a clean match.

4. Golden State: Jordan Smith Jr., G, Arkansas. The consensus has Smith second. We have him fourth at 80.0, and the gap between him and No. 2 is a single point. Think of picks two through five as a tier rather than a ranking.

5. Milwaukee: Bruce Branch III, SF, BYU. Branch is fifth on both boards (79.8). At 18.7, he's nearly as young as Joksimovic.

Picks 6 through 14

The biggest reaches against consensus in the lottery are Coleman (five spots) and Mingo (five), with Oladotun and Yimga-Moukouri (four each) close behind. Coleman, Mingo and Oladotun are all freshmen who will be 18.9 or younger on draft day. Our formula leans on age, and it shows.

The flip side is Allen and Mullins. The consensus has them in its top nine, and we have them at 12 and 13. Both are sophomores who'll be over 21. Their numbers from last season are solid: Allen ranked in the 82nd percentile of his class in rebounds (7.1) and the 86th in assists (3.1), and Mullins shot 85.2% from the line (89th percentile). But on our board, the extra age costs them.

The rest of round one

Denver, picking 15th at 1-1, gets Luigi Suigo, Villanova's freshman center. Boston follows with Duke's Patrick Ngongba II, who is 11th on the consensus board and the best value still available at 16. Washington, at 19, gets Arizona's Motiejus Krivas, who's 12th on the consensus. Our board is lower on seniors like Krivas and Florida's Thomas Haugh (20th to Indiana).

At the back end, the 3-0 teams (Houston, Oklahoma City, Memphis, Detroit, the Lakers and Minnesota) pick 24 through 30, along with 2-0 Portland at 29. The pick to note there is Cameron Houindo, a forward at Cedevita Olimpija. He goes 27th to Detroit even though he's 35th on the consensus board, and he's one of the players our formula likes more than the crowd does.

What changes next

Standings will settle over the next few weeks, so expect the order to churn every night while the board itself moves more slowly. When college games start producing new numbers, the RR Scores will start to separate the tiers.
